DataONE welcomes the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) as the newest Member Node to join the federation. NCEI is the merger of NOAA's three former National Data Centers: The National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC), the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC), and the National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC).

The National Science Foundation has made a 5-year, $5.9 million award to a national partnership, led by the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS) at the University of California Santa Barbara, to develop and curate the NSF Arctic Data Center, a new archive for Arctic scientific data as well as other related research documents.
Users of DataONE can now access detailed metrics on their uploaded data through our new data profiles.
January marked the launch of version 2 of the DataONE systems supporting our network of 31 Member Nodes. Designed to be responsive to community input, version 2 supports data profiles, and enables sign in through ORCID, Google or University affiliations; streamlined access for client tools such as R; and a host of new technical features making it easier for Member Node repositories to manage their data.
Please save the date for our upcoming DataONE Users Group (DUG) meeting to be held July 17th-18th, 2016 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. As in previous years, we will be co-locating with the ESIP Summer Meeting.
There is no cost to register.
DataONE welcomes the Nevada Research Data Center (NRDC) as the newest Member Node to join the federation. Based at the University of Nevada, Reno, the NRDC currently serves up data from the NevCAN project. NevCAN is a network of sites dedicated to the monitoring and recording of climate conditions in some of the most remote places in Nevada.
