DataONE is sponsoring a Data Management Short Course for junior researchers based on content from the DataONE education modules and the Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) short course materials. The goal of the short course is to encourage data literacy in junior researchers, to pilot the DataONE and ESIP teaching materials in a short course environment and to gain feedback from students on course content.
DataONE, LTER and NCEAS are co-sponsoring a workshop on 'Software Tools for Sensor Networks'. The goal of the workshop, to be held in Albuquerque May 1st - 4th is to promote best practices for sensor management and provide hands-on training in the use of existing tools and common software. Data Management 101 for the Earth Scientist
The Data Observation Network for Earth (DataONE - http://dataone.org) is recruiting a post-doctoral associate to work with the Provenance and Scientific Workflows Working Group of DataONE. This is a full-time, 12–month position initially for one year, but renewable pending progress and availability of funds. Applications will be accepted starting immediately and will be accepted until the position is filled.
The DMP Tool, a collaborative project across seven organizations including DataONE, has now been released. Designed to help researchers learn about data management and write guided Data Management Plans (DMPs), the DMPTool walks researchers through the steps neccesary to create a generic NSF DMP or a DMP targeted to one of six NSF Directorates. You can also save, preview and export your plans and future functionality will allow you to share DMPs with collaborators and other researchers.... read more
DataONE, which is headquartered at the University of New Mexico (UNM), is recruiting a post-doctoral associate to work with the Data Semantics and Integration Working Group of the DataONE project. This is a full-time, 12 –month position that is renewable up to three years. The physical location of where the Post-Doctoral Associate is located is flexible. Applications will be accepted starting immediately and will be accepted until the position is filled.
DataONE learning modules are now available online. Topics cover data management planning, through data entry and assurance, metadata and analysis. You can download individual modules / slides to incorporate into your lectures.

DataONE and colleagues from Indiana University will be running at 3 hr workshop titled "Big Data Means Your Metadata Must Work" at Supercomputing 2011, Seattle, Nov 12-18th.
