BCO-DMO becomes the 35th Member Node to join the DataONE federation.
The Biological & Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) is now exposing its content as a new DataONE Member Node, expanding the quantity and quality of oceanographic data coverage discoverable via DataONE. BCO-DMO is the first Drupal-based repository to join the federation, paving the way for other Drupal users to collaborate with DataONE.
DataONE welcomes the National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON), operated by Battelle, as a data partner and its newest Member Node. NEON is a continental-scale ecological observation facility sponsored by the National Science Foundation that gathers and synthesizes data on the impacts of climate change, land use change and invasive species on natural resources and biodiversity. The Northwest Knowledge Network (NKN) at the University of Idaho joins DataONE as the 34th Member Node in the federated network. NKN is a unit within the University of Idaho (UI) Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED) that provides research data management and computing support for UI researchers and their regional, national, and international collaborators.
DataONE welcomes the Program for Research on Biodiversity (PPBio) Western Amazon as its first Member Node in South America. PPBio’s Western Amazon Node data repository contains data from surveys conducted in the framework of the Research Program in Biodiversity, the Center for Integrated Studies of Biodiversity in the Amazon and partner projects.
DataONE welcomes the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) as the newest Member Node to join the federation. NCEI is the merger of NOAA's three former National Data Centers: The National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC), the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC), and the National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC).
The National Science Foundation has made a 5-year, $5.9 million award to a national partnership, led by the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS) at the University of California Santa Barbara, to develop and curate the NSF Arctic Data Center, a new archive for Arctic scientific data as well as other related research documents.
Users of DataONE can now access detailed metrics on their uploaded data through our new data profiles.
January marked the launch of version 2 of the DataONE systems supporting our network of 31 Member Nodes. DataONE welcomes the Nevada Research Data Center (NRDC) as the newest Member Node to join the federation. Based at the University of Nevada, Reno, the NRDC currently serves up data from the NevCAN project. NevCAN is a network of sites dedicated to the monitoring and recording of climate conditions in some of the most remote places in Nevada.
