Meeting Theme and Objectives
The 2016 meeting theme, “Expanding Data Networks”, will focus on the new challenges and efforts in making data accessible, discoverable, and deliverable while promoting open data policies, standards, and compliance with funders’ emerging data management requirements. A strong emphasis is on data synthesis and technological progress made in data network infrastructure.
The scientific program of the 2016 meeting invites talks and posters on the following topics:
- Leveraging research data level metrics for large data repositories and data networks
- Integrating the needs and inputs of data users to advance and improve data discoverability
- Assessing the progress, impact, and success in promoting open data policies
DataONE encourages DataONE Member Nodes, data scientists, researchers, scientists, students and others to submit abstracts for posters and talks.
Sessions marked with an asterisk (*) will be live streamed for remote participation.
All times in Eastern time.

If it is your first time using zoom, you will have to launch the installer. You may also go to zoom.us , select "Join a Meeting" and enter the meeting id. This will be a walking guided tour of the local Durham distillery (http://durhamdistillery.com/). The duration will be 45-60 minutes and the cost will be approximately $15-20 which will include 5 tastings and a souvenir shot glass. The distillery is within walking distance of the convention center and adjacent to a blues club that serves bar-b-que and southern food.

Durham Marriott City Center—A block of rooms is available at the GSA per diem rate of $99/night. The hotel is attached to the convention center. Guest will have 24 hours before arrival to cancel their reservations without any charges. Make your reservations.
Abstract Submission for Posters and Talks
You may submit an abstract (250 words maximum) for a poster presentation during the online registration process. The poster session will be held the evening of Sunday evening July 17th during the reception events.
We are no longer accepting abstracts for oral presentations.
For individuals not able to attend the meeting, we plan to live stream a number of sessions. These are indicated by an * in the agenda
