Thus, Metacat is a generic XML database that allows storage, query, and retrieval of arbitrary XML documents without prior knowledge of the XML schema.
OAIster is a freely accessible search engine for open access web resources, available from OCLC. OAIster uses the Open Access Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) to harvest records from websites. OAIster contains over 25 million records from all disciplines and subjects contributed by over 1,000 libraries, archives, and repositories. The records harvested by OAIster use Dublin Core (unqualified) metadata format.
Refworks is an easy-to-use web-based product that allows you to import references. RefWorks is a subscription-based service available in many Higher Ed institutions. For subscribers, you can import references from your institutions' online library catalog and many electronic databases to which the institution subscribes. It is designed to help researchers easily gather, manage, store and share all types of information, as well as generate citations and bibliographies.
